1. Its okay to mourn your old life, it doesn’t make you a bad person. You’re just a person who now has to plan for extra people.
  2. Accept help when offered. Regardless of how old your kids are, you could always use the help of other parents.
  3. Take a lot of pictures, you’re going to want them to look back on. Besides, this will be the only way to prove their yours, when you’re shaking your head at some of their horrible life choices.
  4. Use paper, rock, scissors to decide the small disagreements.  That’s what I do. It’s fair and impartial.
  5. Don’t sweat the small stuff.  If it doesn’t make them horrible human beings later in life, then just let it go.
  6. Get the help of older siblings. Don’t over do it, but helping their siblings is a good life lesson, besides who else will they go to if they need money when they’re older.
  7. Don’t listen to other parents telling you the “right” way to do things. Accept that every parent is different, and its those differences that makes the crazy kids.
  8. Don’t be discouraged by the mom who seems to have everything under control. Truth be told she has major issues, she just works harder to hide it.
  9. Laugh to keep from crying.  I give this advice for life in general, not just parents. But beware of the person who is laughing hysterically and run fast in the opposite direction.
  10. Have fun. Parenthood is not a race. Take time to take it all in, sit back, relax and have fun!!
